MY JOURNEY:

I was born and raised in Escanaba, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and attended Michigan State University where I studied Exercise Science and received a Bachelor of Science with a minor in Health and Humanities with Honors.  Throughout my undergraduate career, I worked closely with many Big Ten athletes in the Exercise Physiology Lab and gained a strong passion for sport and human performance, and biomechanics. After graduating from MSU, I attended Palmer College of Chiropractic and taught in the radiology department as a student-teacher and played for the Palmer Dragon ACHA Hockey team. Before graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2007, I was honored to be able to travel to the Brazilian highlands on a clinic abroad trip to offer healthcare to those less fortunate.  I met my wife Anna in chiropractic school and we moved to SE Wisconsin to start our first office.  We spent the last 13 years taking care of SE Wisconsin's chiropractic needs in our office based largely on referrals but after the birth of our 4th baby, we decided to move to Minnesota be closer to my wife's family.  We are excited to be a part of the Duluth Community and offer customized chiropractic care.

MY STORY:

Being active in sport my whole life led me to chiropractic care.  I had a number of injuries over the years from baseball and hockey and my parents brought me to a family friend who was a great chiropractor.  Not only did he help fix me up but he taught me how I could prevent further injures.  I knew from then on this is what I wanted to do, I wanted to help people feel the best they could and reach their goals without covering up what they felt with a pain medication.

WHO I LIKE TO WORK WITH:

I genuinely like to help everyone I see.  I feel passionate about doing all that I can to help people reach their health goals.  However, I feel I have a niche for people who have tried everything and still have lower back pain or still can't pick up their grandkids.  I am a Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner and have extensive training in seeing athletes from various backgrounds and am a Titelist Performance Institute certified instructor (TPI).  Being an avid golfer myself, the TPI gives me a medical edge in swing analysis combined with mobility.  My wife and I have 4 children and I was able to help her with pain during her pregnancy and after.  You can ask her yourself and she will tell you she wouldn't have made it through her pregnancies without chiropractic care. Ultimately, I want you to the best you can be, whether you are the weekend warrior, athlete, or a mom with low back pain.  I continue to stay on top of new developments in my profession and wellness and a whole.  My methodology includes specific, detailed-oriented, personal chiropractic treatment to each and every individual patient.

FOR FUN:

I have many interests including mountain biking, hockey, golf, and spending time with family.  Over the years I have done countless hours of continuing education (including Chiropractic Sports Physician, Chiropractic Biophysiology and Palmer techniques) and strive to constantly improve my craft, which is a strong blend of art, science, and philosophy utilized to better the human potential. I also coach Congdon Park Hockey Club Mites and Squirts, volunteers with Cyclists of Gitchie Gumee Shores (COGGS).

“My hopes are to better our community through accurate and caring guidance of their health through chiropractic and the involvement of the health professional community.  I look forward to serving your health needs and deliver exceptional Chiropractic treatment in the future.”

MY JOURNEY:

I am a Minnesota native however had been living in Milwaukee where we began our chiropractic career over 13 years ago.  We had a thriving practice in SE Wisconsin however we recently moved to Duluth to be closer to family after our 4th baby was born. Ever since I was 14 years old, I knew I wanted to become a chiropractor.  After suffering from headaches for years, I went to a chiropractor and it changed my life.  From then on I set my path and attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth studying in Human Biology.  I continued my education at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA, the leading chiropractic university in the world.  In 2007, I went to the Amazon Rainforest for a clinic abroad trip to service those with no access to healthcare.  It was a humbling experience that molds who I am today.

WHO I LIKE TO WORK WITH:

I have had the privilege to work with patients from a variety of backgrounds.  From newborn babies to NHL hockey players, to professional gamers I have seen it all!  It makes my job fun and I truly enjoy getting to meet and learn more about each of my patients.  When you come and see me in the office, I will be using the “whole-person” approach when caring for my patients. I feel a special connection to treating headache suffers and shoulder pain, carpal tunnel, and sinus pain since that is why I got into chiropractic in the first place. I use the very best hands-on-techniques, state of the art physiotherapy procedures, and provide highly qualified healthcare advice.  I have spent over 12 years in training to be one of only a few Elite Providers for Active Release Techniques (ART) in the world, with advanced knowledge in treating soft-tissue injuries.  For nearly 10 years I had the honor of be able to help the production lines and staff at SC Johnson's main manufacturing headquarters.  I was able to help them reduce work-related injuries and pilot programs at two other manufacturing facilities.  It gives me great joy to help improve the lives of people who are what I like to call "occupational athletes" because they have to be at their peak performance for 25-30 years on the job. As I always say, it's easier to grow healthy kids and fix injured adults!  The reason I got certified in ART was that I was training for the Chicago Marathon and had terrible shin splints and a doctor at school treated me and they were gone immediately.  I couldn't believe it and knew I needed to do this so I could help more people. Having four children myself, I know the importance of proper biomechanics of the pelvis during pregnancy and delivery and am certified with the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) with Webster’s Technique.

FOR FUN:

I like to run, bike, anything active!  I enjoy traveling, antiquing, restoring homes and furniture, and spending time with my husband and four kids.  I love animals, the outdoors, and living in this magical place near Lake Superior.

HOW IT WORKS

 Initial Visit

  1. The initial visit can be scheduled by phone (218-501-0707) or online at chestercreekchiro.com.  The online scheduler will send you a link to fill out paperwork prior to your appointment, which will save you 15 minutes on your appointment and is highly recommended.  Upon entering the clinic, you will be greeted with a smile and be given a quick tour of our beautiful facility. If your online paperwork is completed, you will sign into our system and a consultation will immediately follow.  The consultation will be a detailed and focused discussion on your concerns and to determine if care at our clinic is the right choice for you. This consultation should take no more than 15 minutes, but is always tailored to your specific needs and concerns.  Once the consultation is complete, you will move into the examination room and a thorough chiropractic examination will be performed by the doctor to determine the underlying cause of your problem. The examination will consist of neurological, orthopedic, motion palpation and functional movement testing.  Following the examination, the doctor will determine which, if any, x-ray studies will be ordered and will be performed on-site that day. A unique x-ray study called a “motion study” will be considered to pinpoint the exact problem within the spine. All costs will be disclosed prior to any service.

  2. Once your examination is completed, the doctor will determine if a trial adjustment will take place that day and the second visit will be scheduled to go over your findings.  It is encouraged that the second visit is scheduled within the week of your initial visit. Plan on spending around 30-45 minutes on your first visit to our clinic. The visit length can vary depending on your specific needs.  The ultimate goal of the first visit is to gather information to develop a unique plan of action tailored for you.

Second Visit

  1. Your second visit will consist of a detailed review of your initial visit.  The doctor will go over your consult and answer any questions you may have. The doctor will then proceed in showing and explaining any studies that were performed (Motion X Ray).  You will be able to see where your problem is and understand why your problem is occurring. We will next go over how you will heal and restore optimal function and the doctor will give their best recommendation on how to get you feeling better, as well as correcting the problem to prevent future episodes from disrupting your life.  All financials will be detailed and explained with courtesy discounts applied as an option for you. We always give you the choice to decide on what care best fits you at the time, and we will honor your choices and provide the best care for that decision.  â€‹

Once the report is completed, you will then be treated by the doctor and an advanced schedule will be completed before leaving for the day.  We do an advanced schedule to help you not only manage your busy life, but assist in you getting the care you need. Nothing is set in stone and we can adjust any future appointments as needed.  Plan on 30-45 minutes for the appointment.

Follow Up Visits

  1. Your visits going forward will consist of a chiropractic evaluation and treatment.  They will be specifically tailored to you each time. Appointments will last 15-20 minutes, shorter or longer as needed by you.  Some visits will consist of specific exercise demonstrations, stretching, myofascial work and lifestyle advice along with your chiropractic treatment.  Our goal is to focus on you and give you the individualized care you deserve.
